Comparative Arsenic Tolerance and Accumulation Potential Between Wild Tagetes patula and Tagetes minuta

چکیده
Arsenic (As) is a bioactive metalloid that highly toxic to humans, animals, and plants. Environmental contamination of As especially in groundwater increases due natural anthropogenic activities. The present study was performed evaluate the potential wild Tagetes species for phytoremediation contaminated soil/water. This comparative research aims analyze accumulation tolerance two Tagetes, T. minuta patula. 20 days old seedlings were grown hydroponically exposed different concentrations As, 0, 50, 150, 300 µM As2O3 1-, 4- 7- intervals. Effect stress measured on rate seed germination, growth parameters like fresh dry biomass weight, root/shoot length, chlorophyll contents root shoot both species. Increasing concentration restricts activity with toxicity symptoms leaves such as chlorosis. Accumulation significantly (p ≤ 0.01) high (634 µg g-1 DW) patula compared (397 at As2O3. Both exhibited variation well patterns. Comparatively good suggests this could be used phytoextraction re-vegetation sites.
